PM-HIP formed structural parts provide a wide range of opportunities within this sector. PM-HIP parts can be made for land based systems such as military vehicles through to Howitzers. The ability to make parts which are nearer net shape than traditional methods of manufacturing creates light weighting opportunities by replacing parts using titanium.

Below Water

Where corrosion remains an important factor, PM-HIP components can be designed to maintain strength whilst employing corrosion resistance.

Land Based

PM-HIP offers the potential for higher strength and increased ballistic protective materials, whilst also making significant savings on machining costs. The efficiency of the PM-HIP process also provides the flexibility of expedited availability when threat situations arise and require a fast response.

Land Based

Airborne

PM-HIP can used to create components where structural integrity and weight savings are crucial, such as parts for missiles.

PM-HIP can produce high performance parts with reduced weight. It can also be used to supply small batch quantities for component replacement or enhancement. The weight difference ratio from raw forging to final machined part (known as ‘Buy-to-Fly’) can be reduced from 5:1 to 2:1 or even 1.5:1. This results in huge savings in both material and machining time.
